Frankie Addison, DC Native, Gifted Talented Extraordinary Musician, Energetic Saxophonist, (Alto, Soprano, Tenor, and the Flute). Educator, Composer, Arranger, Music Director, Band Leader, Session Musician and Actor portraying Lester Young, Tenor Saxophonist in the life of Billie Holiday, Jazz Vocalist.
Frankie demonstrated his commitment to music at an early age with excellence while attending Terrell and Shaw Jr. High Schools, and a graduate of the University of the District of Columbia. While striving for Excellence, his mentor was the “late King Curtis, Saxophonist who was his idol. Frankie formed his own jazz group, “Front Line Jazz Ensemble at the age of 17”, under his direction. Frankie, in his later years moved on to the Blues Alley Big Band. He has personally been privileged to play alongside with; Dizzy Gillespie, Ella Fitzgerald, Branford and Ellis Marsalis, Angela Bofield, Angela Winbush, Isaac Hayes and Norman Connors, and have performed in the White House for the Inaugural Ball of President George W. Bush, and Performed for President Nelson Madela during his first visit to the United States.
Frankie has performed at the Kennedy Center, the New Blues Alley in Baltimore, Warner and Lincoln Theater, Wolf Trap, the Old Post Office Pavilion and Club Lafayette. Frankie has been on tour to Europe to performed in Paris, France, Italy, London, Rome, Germany Switzerland, and Japan. Frankie; leaves an everlasting effect on his audiences with all of his performances.
