The first floor of Marvin is where live performances take the stage every Monday and Thursday, Friday and Saturday ( the downstairs is closed to the public on Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday but it is available for private events ) . The first floor opens at 6 pm and our full menu is available from 6 pm- 10pm/11 pm ( weekend hours ). Music starts at at 7 pm on Monday and Thursday and 8 pm on Friday and Saturday.
Dante’ Pope is a multi-genre drummer and vocalist and a native of Chicago, Illinois. He blends his gospel roots with a soulful swing that has been showcased all around the world. For several years, he supported Dom Flemons, founder and former member of the Grammy Award winning, Carolina Chocolate Drops. In this trio, Dante' expanded his musical palate and learned early-America rhythms and percussive instrumental styles such as the rhythm bones and spoons. As a trio, they performed with the likes of Grammy Award winning, Old Crow Medicine Show and performed for the grand opening of the newly opened Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, DC.
